Tabacalera a space for alternative art

Although many people know its façade, which draws attention to the works of urban art on its walls, not so many people know its interior. The Tabacalera today consists of two well differentiated spaces in all aspects. Tabacalera- promotion of Art, which is the name of the part managed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, acts as other exhibition halls, with good proposals of contemporary art and photography. It consists of several rooms that are interesting to know, the rehabilitation that was carried out in the building in 2007, after almost a decade abandoned, was respectful and the rooms keep the essence of the building.

What makes the Tabacalera so unique is the Self-managed Social Center, a very different place, walking through its nooks and crannies is not to be missed, the corridors of the basements full of art will surprise you, you will find dance workshops, music, theater, electromechanics and an infinity more. This underground atmosphere that some of us like so much, you can find an artist spray painting one of its walls or see how they rehearse a performance or listen and participate in a debate on poetry of the XXI century. It is an authentic place where art flows and far from being pigeonholed, it is open to all kinds of currents.
